SOLD – Prize Rooster

I’ve raised chickens and have a soft spot for the docile ones that let you hold and pet them.

My friend Jen once had a rooster that was so gentle and easygoing she took him on her book tour after publishing her memoirs. He wandered benevolently around the bookstore aisles.

My mother grew up on a farm and this piece is an imagined farm girl, part her, part me, part my hardworking daughter who raised some chickens in her college dorm last year and loves horses and barn chores. The bird, of course, is in memory of Jen’s sweet rooster.
