Swallows and Lupines

Lupine time comes in late May and early June. The scent is marvelous. The blooms buzz with pollinators.

This year I painted lupines in my dad’s patch up the road and at my neighbor Charlotte’s meadow. Charlotte’s lupines inspired my dad to plant his. She has been ill this year and I learned that she died the week after I painted in her field. Barn swallows and lupines will always make me think of her.
