What is it about buttons? I can’t seem to acquire enough of them. Fortunately I come across bags and bottles of buttons in thrift stores all the time. They provide a tactile zing to run your fingers through, while digging to look for the perfect one.
Zing. Zing.
This was a collection I found last spring in Montreal at Rubans Boutons, a little boutique of ribbons and buttons in the garment district of Montreal. And today I leave for the 5th (or is it 6th?) annual trip to Montreal with three friends for a weekend of discoveries. It was last year that we found the garment district and we’re all anxious to see what new place we find this weekend.
Happy weekend wherever you are making discoveries. Perhaps you will have a chance to run your fingers through a heap of buttons too.
Sue, this year I want to take you to RixRax (http://www.rixrax.ca/english.html). It’s 2 blocks north of Mony Royal, along St. Hubert – a different flavour and drama altogether than Rubans Boutans – and lots and lots of wonderful buttons and trim.
oooh, i want to go there!!
As a kindergarten teacher I always had a collection of buttons.. I bet you’d find some pretty cool ones tucked away in classrooms all over the country:)
