Where land meets the ocean is a pretty magical zone. I live far from the ocean, so when I get there I can hardly believe it.
Plum Island is a bird sanctuary and national seashore that is north of Boston. Its coast is a nesting ground for plovers and there are salt marshes on the inland side and Atlantic waters on the east. We love to get there early in the morning to secure a parking spot down at Sandy Point. I can never tire of watching seabirds in the morning fog.
I set up my easel in the marshes this summer and captured the late day mood of hot August. Birds for company.
